Prayers said at the 5pm service
God, we’re worn out. We all have heavy burdens, long to-do lists, and weary bodies. Give us your peace that’s greater than we can fathom, grant us your mercy that “sparks joy.” Thank you for fulfilling the law on our behalf. You finished what we could not compete.
Lord in your mercy,

Loving God, this week we celebrate the feast of Saint Valentine. I pray that the commercial and saccharine displays of love around us will serve to reflect the deep and abiding true love you have for us all. I pray for those who are looking for love, those who are recently single, the happy couples here tonight, and the unhappy couples too. We especially lift up those whose loved ones are no longer with them. Give us all opportunities to share your love with friends, roommates, families, and neighbors.
Lord, in your mercy

Wise God, bless all students, teachers, professors, and all who work in education. Those here tonight and those who are a part of our parish and city. We lift up those feeling stressed and exhausted over assignments, first years feeling homesick, upper classmen looking for internships or jobs. Give them all wisdom and perseverance. Help those who teach and those who learn to remember you are the source of all truth.

Heavenly Father, Remind us through your Holy Spirit that your ways are more life-giving than the ways of the world, and being your child is better than any hustle or selfish goal. When we fail, let us not view our mistakes as a measure of our worth, but a chance for a fresh start. Give us all the fortitude to keep faith in you, and to continually find joy in your creation.

Keep watch, dear Lord, with those who work, or watch, or weep this night, and give your angels charge over those who sleep. Tend the sick, Lord Christ; give rest to the weary, bless the dying, soothe the suffering, pity the afflicted, shield the joyous; and all for your love’s sake
Lord, in your mercy

Paul Zach and our amazing worship band also sang this gorgeous song during our offertory.
With joy,
Jen
